Ink Makes the Best Meds

Depression.  Everybody that has ever written practically invented this word.  Most written and especially those that live in poetry, deal with some sort of depression.  It can be a driving force to your creativity or it can be a brick wall.

Embrace it!  Sure, I am crazy but really, embrace your depression.  Baby it even.  Do not deny it anything reasonable.  It wants a day off, sure why not.  It doesn't want to make dinner, okay.  It needs an extra pot of coffee....go for it just make sure you keep your windows closed because we wouldn't want you to fly away.

Depression is a symptom of great writing.  Writing is the best cure for depression.  It's kind of a vicious cycle.  Must get depressed to write more and must write more to get rid of the depression.  No wonder writers are insane.  But in a very good way most times.

My first two books were completely from being destraught.  The third one was from recovery.  Pretty sure that as of the posting of this blog my third one has yet to sell a single copy.  Could be because I got lucky one the first two or maybe I am closer to being brilliant when depressed. Yeah using brilliant is an overstatement but hey, I'm a writer, give me a break.

So in conclusion, write more when you don't feel like it and you shall feel better!  Yes, that is an order...okay more like a suggestion.  Go try it and compare your work.  That is your experiment assignment for the rest of your life.  Write for life and write for yourself.  Go write!!!!
