About This Blog

OPEN THOUGHTS:

This blog will be about poetry not so much me unless I use my life an example to answer a question or bring out a point about writing.  This blog is for you to share your thoughts about poetry and create a following of your work.

I will post ideas for writing, links to publishers and maybe some writing challenges.  I will be putting some ads on this but they won't be sneaky nor shameless.  I would love to just make enough off of this place to create a stand alone blog that can handle more feautures and more poetry! So come and share and chat and write!

ABOUT ME:

Welcome to the mind of me also known as "Dysfunctional Heart".  I created a series of books entitled "Poems from a Dysfuntional Heart" that was first published in 2007. There are a total of three books that reflect how my heart saw love through self-destructive times. The poetry in the first book is almost entirely from 1998. The second book has poetry from the broken days mixed with some hope for a future. The third book reflects a healing of my heart.

Currently I am no longer writing this type of poetry that saw things so negatively and hurtful but still tried to mixed in what was left of my heart at the time.

For a look at my books go to http://www.amazon.com/ or http://www.barnesandnoble.com/ and search for Mark Anthony Cotterman.

If you have any questions or suggestions or just want to say hi please email me at dhpoetrycorner@yahoo.com or visit me at www.facebook.com/dysfunctionalheart

MY POETRY

In a few days I will start posting some samples from my books and some poems that didn't get included. As with most writers and poets I believe my work sucks. It has taken me 5 years to finally do a blog and that is on the grounds that I promote and help others.

inside

pleasing to the flesh of blueberries
her lips gloss the purple while absorbing its hue
finger tips measuring the stripes of flexing straws
while i fade into a double vision of you
eyes being of mortal sight i blink past
the gracefulness of your being--alone
drowning out walls, lighting and volumes of silence
i slip inside what it is like being her mundane obsession

Imprisoned

Escape the moment
Without wind nor the
Scent of a flesh
That no longer
Shall attract the fledging
Pieces of me

For I am laid to worn
From the inside
Lacking the breath
To venture beyond
Human

Run with mind bare and
Feet clad to flee

Run without the image
That you formed of me

Escape the moment
For if love is the motive
My heart shall surely imprison thee
